Life as a Train Ride: Connecting the Dots Between Emotions, Timelines, and Serendipity

I’ve been fascinated by some aspects of life lately. To explain my point, let’s conduct a small thought experiment.. Imagine your life as a train journey, where each station represents a different phase of your emotional and spiritual development. This is being said considering that life seems to move like a train ride, with twists, turns, and stations that resemble key moments in our journeys. As I’m learning more about vibrations, frequency, and timelines, I find myself drawn to these ideas to understand life’s events, emotions, and the role serendipity plays in shaping our experiences. To someone new to these concepts (like me!), it can feel a bit overwhelming at first, but the more I explore, the more it all starts to make sense.

I’ve come across the term “raising your vibrations” quite often. At first, I wasn’t sure what it really meant, Let me break it down. In simple terms, everything in the universe has energy, and where there is energy, there are vibrations. These vibrations resonate at a certain frequency, similar to how a radio tunes into specific stations. The interesting part is that we are constantly communicating with the universe through these frequencies. The universe responds to our thoughts and emotions, creating a vibrational frequency that can either attract positive or negative experiences.

When we talk about the universe “responding” to our signals, I know it can sound mystical or hard to grasp at first. But it’s less about some external force actively “responding” and more about how our consciousness aligns with the reality we experience. To understand that, imagine the universe as a giant, neutral field of possibilities — a vast network of train tracks, to use the train journey metaphor again. Each track or timeline represents different outcomes and experiences, and our consciousness is like the engine that drives the train.

When we talk about “signals” or “vibrations,” we’re referring to the state of our consciousness — In other words our emotions, thoughts, and beliefs — which influence the track our train travels on. If you’re in a state of fear or doubt, your consciousness, which operates much like a magnet or receiver, naturally aligns with experiences that reflect that low vibration. I believe It’s not that the universe intentionally sends you fear, but in simple words rather that you’re aligned with a frequency where fearful experiences are more likely to manifest.

On the other hand, if you raise your vibration — by consciously focusing on gratitude, peace, or joy — your consciousness shifts to a higher frequency. In doing so, you align with experiences that reflect those feelings. The “response” from the universe is more like an echo or reflection of your inner state. The universe itself is neutral, but your consciousness tunes into particular frequencies, and you perceive reality through that lens. So, it’s not so much that the universe is “responding” to you in a personal, direct way, but more that you’re aligning with different layers of reality based on the frequency of your thoughts and emotions. It’s like being on a train — if you’re on a track that’s filled with love and abundance, your experience will mirror that. If you shift to a track filled with fear or anger, your experiences will reflect those vibrations. In this way, it’s our own consciousness that “acknowledges” the frequency we’re in and, through alignment, draws corresponding experiences into our lives. When people say the universe is responding to your signals, it’s really about how you’re tuning into the specific frequencies of reality through your own consciousness. What you experience is the natural consequence of the track you’re currently on.

The idea of vibrations reminds me of a concept from Dr. Hawkins’ consciousness spectrum, where he explains that different emotions, like anger, shame, guilt, or fear, exist at lower frequencies. When we’re caught in these emotions, it’s like being stuck on a slow-moving train heading toward more negative experiences. For example, if I’m feeling angry, I’m not just feeling that emotion in isolation — I’m broadcasting it out into the universe, and more situations that spark anger might come my way. On the flip side, emotions like joy, love, and peace exist at higher frequencies, where everything feels lighter, faster, and more aligned with a better, smoother timeline.

This connects very well with how I’ve started to view timelines, especially if we imagine life as a network of train tracks, all moving in different directions. Each timeline represents a different path, some leading to joyful experiences and others to challenges. The “train” we’re on at any given time depends on our frequency — our thoughts and emotions. If we’re vibrating at a lower frequency, we may find ourselves on a bumpy, frustrating track. This practice of consciously shifting our mindset is key to experiencing a smoother ride through life — by choosing thoughts and emotions aligned with joy, kindness, and gratitude — we can “switch tracks” and find ourselves on a more pleasant and rewarding journey. One thing I’ve learned, or I am learning, is that changing timelines isn’t just about being positive all the time — it’s about raising our vibrational frequency. By reducing emotions like anger, fear, and insecurity, and embracing more resourceful states like trust, compassion, and peace, we begin to attract opportunities and experiences that align with abundance and growth. This shift requires practice. Our minds are often wired for negativity, so it takes time to consciously rewire them toward positive frequencies. But as I’ve noticed, the more I focus on gratitude, the easier life seems to flow. Small and big tasks start to fall into place almost effortlessly, and I begin to notice more moments of serendipity — those seemingly “lucky” coincidences where everything just clicks.

This brings me to an idea I’ve recently come across, which is the concept of living an “asymmetric life” I was inspired by the thoughts of Graham Weaver, MBA ’99, the founder and partner of Alpine Investors. Graham holds an MBA from Stanford GSB and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Princeton University, where he graduated with highest honors. He talks about how doing hard things, pursuing our passion, and committing to growth for decades leads to extraordinary success. We’ll dive deeper into this in the next post, where I’ll explore the difference between symmetric and asymmetric life approaches.

(We will talk more about this diagram on the upcoming Blog)

Now getting back to our discussion here – On the other hand, if your emotional state is dominated by anger, guilt, or fear, it’s as if your train passes through dark tunnels, heading toward stations of despair or confusion. These are the lower-frequency timelines, where life feels like a struggle and challenges keep coming. The key to switching tracks to more favorable timelines lies in the ability to your vibration.

Think of it like tuning into a different radio frequency — the train tracks that correspond to love, peace, and success are always there, but you can only access them if your thoughts and emotions match that higher frequency. By consciously choosing your thoughts, practicing gratitude, and embracing courage, you gradually shift your train to tracks where life seems brighter, more aligned with your dreams, and filled with fortunate coincidences.
